Our Favorite Things to do in Maui

Maui is our second home and we love it here so much. We want to share with you our favorite things to do on Maui to make sure you have the most amazing time! Bellow you will find some fun things to do, our favorite places to eat (besides our kitchen) as well as practical information to make your trip smooth and easy. Let us know if you have any questions or need recommendations!

  • Enjoy Kihei Beaches-Charley Young, Kamaole 1, 2 and 3 are some of the best beaches in Hawaii islands and are steps away from both of our condos.
  • Visit Makena Beach Park and drive around the magnificent Makena neighborhood.
  • Snorkel in Kihei, Wailea and Makena-you will see reef, fish and turtles here!
  • Drive to la Perouse Bay and take a walk past where the road stops by Waiakapuhi burial caves.
  • Hike through the Waihe’e Valley Rainforest – “Swinging Bridges”.
  • Drive to Hana and keep driving full circle around Haleakala (note: parts of the road are not paved)
  • Drive to Haleakala for what is called “The most amazing sunrise in the world”
  • Visit Wailea Resorts for a bite to eat or a cocktail, there is a great ocean path connecting them all.
  • Drive to Lahaina and have a lunch in the historic Pioneer Inn, then take a walk around the town.
  • Visit Black Rock Beach in Kanapali and dive off the lava rock, you will see many turtles here as well!
  • Shop in Kalama Market for trinkets, then relax in one of the cafes and restaurants.
  • Visit The Maui Swapmeet on South Puunene Avenue on Saturdays.
  • Drive West Maui’s rugged North Shore by the Honoapi’ilani and Kahekili Highways.
  • Go visit Humback Whale when in season by a boat.
  • Visit Iao State Park and very local Wailuku.

  • Rent a convertible car if you can. There is so much beauty to see on this magical island. We like using www.sidestep.com to get the best price.
  • Get your snorkel and beach gear as well as activity reservations in Snorkel Bob’s in Kihei, they have good prices and are extremely helpful, ask for Sue. The weekly rates are great! www.snorkelbob.com
  • Stock up on groceries in Costco by the airport. Groceries are expensive here and Costco offers a great value. Foodland and Safeway in Kihei is other option for you-make sure to ask for frequent shopper card-it will save you a lot of money.
  • Need baby equipment? Akamai Mother’s Rentals and Wild Wheels Rentals rent cribs, high chairs, Pack N’ Plays, Car Seats, Boosters, Strollers and much more! They deliver the same day for free!
